The Football Season is Back!
Things have been a little quiet for football fans since France won the 2018 World Cup. Pre-season and the summer transfer window that comes with it has been strange with many star players still recovering from the tournament in Russia but that holiday period is now closing and we're set to be kept busy once again with football to watch and Superbru picks to make.
Here's a quick overview of each of the football leagues you can make picks for this season.
Note: After receiving such positive feedback on our World Cup predictor game, all of our football predictor games will now include the new scoring system (1 point for picking the correct team without being particularly close to the scoreline, 1.5 points if you're close to the exact score and 3 points if you nail an exact pick).
The Exact Score Challenge we run for the Premier League predictor game is also back this season, meaning anyone who is playing our Premier League predictor in any pool at all is in with a free chance of winning up to £50,000 in every round that contains 10 fixtures (nearly all of them).
Who's going to win the Premier League this year? You'd be brave to bet against holders Manchester City retaining their crown. Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool and even perhaps Arsenal under Unai Emery will all be cautiously optimistic about there own chances of a title push, with Liverpool showing particular intent in the transfer market. Wolves, Cardiff City and Fulham are the newly-promoted sides we'll be seeing this year.

And if you're slightly familiar with the England team of the 2000's, you'll know that you can't talk about Frank Lampard for long without mentioning Steven Gerrard. The Liverpool legend is also about to begin his debut season as a manager this week as he looks to push Rangers back towards the peak of Scottish football. That task isn't an easy one though, with Celtic hot favourites to win yet another SPL title while Neil Lennon's Hibernian team are also likely to be strong this season.
In comparison, the Championship is one of the most unpredictable leagues in Europe so it's very tough to pick who will win it this season. There look to be several well-organised contenders including Stoke and Middlesbrough while slight outsiders Nottingham Forest and Leeds will each also be confident of a long-awaited return to the top flight.

The chances of Juventus claiming an unbelievable eighth consecutive Serie A title this season went through the roof when the club announced the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid last month. You'll be able to make picks for the upcoming Serie A season at Superbru for the first time ever in 2018/19, adding to our La Liga and Bundesliga predictor games.
There are also hot favourites to win the league in both Spain and Germany with Barcelona and Bayern Munich currently seen as likely retainers of the respective titles they hold. La Liga is set to be very interesting this season though, even without the domestic Ronaldo vs. Messi battle. After controversially taking the Real Madrid job two days ahead of the World Cup and losing is his position as Spain's head coach as a result, Julen Lopetegui faces a tough opening season at the Bernabeu without Ronaldo, especially since neighbours Atletico have made several good signings this summer and will be competitive in the title race themselves.

Last season, Sundowns finished five points clear of Orlando Pirates at the top of the division with Kaizer Chiefs finishing a disappointing 12 points off the pace. Saturday's game will therefore be an interesting indicator of what's to come between now and May.
