Super Rugby Team of the Week: Round 1

Here is the dream team consisting of top-performers from the Super Rugby Fantasy game in each position.

Please note that players are grouped by positions, so you might see a full-back on the wing, or a tighthead prop at loosehead, and the Team of the Week is not affected by the Team Limits when selecting your own team.

Rieko Ioane is listed as an Outside Back in the Superbru game, but starred at centre for the Blues in Round 1.

What do you think of this team?

All Out Rugby Stats XV

By way of contrast, here is the Team of the Week based on the player stats from All Out Rugby.

Some of the backs feature in both teams, but the pack is completely different. Which team is your favourite?

For more information and all the stats from the weekend, visit All Out Rugby here.

Don't forget to organise your Fantasy Super Rugby team for Round 2.

Pretty obvious that the big scorers would come mostly from the team playing the Sunwolves

Haha, they play the Kings next! I for one, will not load my team with Kings! 28 Feb 18:00

Must say i love the stats teams, some journos get way to delusional over some players. This cuts through the BS.

That is not the team of the week, really. You should follow the Super Rugby Fantasy rules where you cannot play 6 Canes in one team. This would give a better picture to us. If you keep this up, you are going to have 10 players from a team soon. Does not help us in our selections.

This is just a way of showing your big scorers, a good stat to see for most users. Use it don`t use don`t judge it. 1 Mar 06:03

I still maintain fantasy sport is a major fruitless exercise! This is well backed up by the difference in the two dream teams you are showing us. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder....and this has absolutely nothing to do with sports predicting, name one bookie that will give you odds on fantasy time wasting!oo

The Thursday games makes picking fantasy team difficult as not all teams are announced by kick off!

I agree with you 100%....this could really take all of the fun out of the Fantasy League. 1 Mar 13:44

Ja, the Thursday start to the round makes selections tricky for everyone. Got to use a bit of knowledge of the teams to determine which players are most likely to play.

We'll have the rest of the lineups in as soon as possible once they're announced to help with your selections. However, I'd recommend that you make sure you've got some good bench cover to have a backup player for any eventuality.

At least from next week onwards it's business as usual with the usual Friday start of the round.

Good luck. 1 Mar 13:50

Think yourself lucky this is rugby where teams are announced a few days in advance, and not football where you find out mere hours before the kick off. Second guessing who may or may not start a game is all part of the challenge, rise to it! 1 Mar 14:52

I agree with Binne Senter that the team of the week should follow the Super Rugby Fantasy rules where not more than 4 players from one team can be included, will make the team of the weeks score more realistic to compare to your own score.
Hutch, any chance that this can be looked at? 2 Mar 18:54

I actually disagree with the comments here. This is more useful to see who the best players are, rather than limiting selection according to the game's arbitrary team limits.

For example, Dane Coles might be the top-scoring hooker by a distance, but if 4 of the Canes backs outscore him, we'd pick them in this team and select a lower-scoring hooker - and that would be misleading in terms of who the best players are in each position.

i think that the rules must be changed when picking the fantasy team , with this new Thursday game the Saturday teams are not announced till after cut off time , we should be allowed to change players up until they actually play or at least until Friday morning

Thanks Wisp. We'll keep that in mind for future developments, should there be such a scenario again. However, as from next week the rounds will once again start on a Friday as usual, so there won't be that kind of concern any longer. Good luck with your weekend picks. 3 Mar 06:49
