Super Rugby Predictions: 2-3 April

Last weekend was a disaster in New Zealand, with two upsets and 0 from 2 on my picks, whilst it was much more predictable in Australia...as predicted!

Here are my Super Rugby picks for the four matches this weekend.

Super Rugby AU

Waratahs v Brumbies: The Tahs are in further disarray having sacked their coach, and whilst there may be some sort of player response, it’s unlikely to be enough to trouble the Brumbies. The Brumbies put 61 points on the Waratahs when they met a few weeks ago, and this should be another comfortable win. Brumbies by 16

Rebels v Reds: I’m slightly tempted to pick the Rebels here, and it might be worth considering if you’re playing catch-up in your pools. The Reds have rejigged their whole backline after the injury to Suliasi Vunivalu, but the Superbru streak is all green and it’s hard to pick against the unbeaten Reds. Reds by 4

Super Rugby Aotearoa

Crusaders v Highlanders: The Crusaders are going to win this easily, given the Highlanders have had to discipline half of their team this week for a ‘breach of protocol’, reportedly involving alcohol at Josh Ioane’s house. Ugly scenes, and it could get ugly on the pitch this time. Crusaders by 23

Blues v Hurricanes: I didn’t expect the ’Canes to win in Dunedin last weekend, but I’m still not convinced they are a match for the Blues here and I think that result said as much about the Highlanders as the Hurricanes. The Blues have won 3 of the last 4 against the Hurricanes, and I think they’ll win this by at least a score. Blues by 8
