Super Rugby: Callie wins R5,000

Did you find Round 12 of Super Rugby surprisingly tough? That's because it was. Bet you thought the Sharks would beat the Kings, like 94% of Superbru players, or that the Jaguares would down the Force, like 98% of the audience.

But enough about you and me.

King Callie, pride of the pack

One player who bucked the trend was Callie "Leeu" Prinsloo from South Africa, who picked the Kings by 8 and the Force by 6. Getting one upset is impressive, but getting two (and with Margin Points to boot) is serious stuff. But even that wasn't enough for Callie. No, just to rub it in, he'd already picked the rest of the winners, with Margin Points. Pretty much the perfect round.

In Round 5, when Anton in South Africa won the R5,000 prize, and in Round 7, when Helen in New Zealand took home $500, the tie-breaking system was used to find the winners as several players had qualified.

Not so for our Callie. He was alone in his remarkable achievement, standing out there on the edge of the world, fists raised in triumph, bellowing, "I love you, Lionel Cronje, king of Kings and fisherman amongst Sharks! Praise be to Nathan Sharpe, wide-eyed patron saint of the Western Force!" Or at least that's how I picture him.

I'm getting lyrically carried away now, as I always do by the excitement of Jackpot win, or as we call it internally after a brilliant comment from a user called Patrick, a Patrickpot...

How the prize works

The jackpot is simple: get Win and Margin Points for every game in a round of 4 or more matches and you'll qualify. If more than one player is eligible, the player with the lowest total distance from margin (TDM), i.e. the player with the closest set of scores across the round, wins. The prize money is denominated in ZAR, AUD, NZD, GBP, EUR or USD depending on your location. Find out more
