Premier League: Team of Round Two

Lots of goals for lots of teams in the Premier League over the past few days has meant that the Team of Round Two is relatively balanced at Superbru, with the highest-scoring XI meeting our requirements of a squad that contains no more than two players from a single club.

Manchester City may have hit Huddersfield for six, but the number of goals scored by other teams means there are goals and assists all over the pitch in this team including the defence - a special shoutout for City goalkeeper Ederson too who didn't make the team but made up for his lack of a clean sheet with an assist of his own!

Here is the Team of Round Two:

Defence

For the second week in a row, Cardiff's Neil Etheridge saved a penalty and this time he also managed a clean sheet as the Bluebirds drew 0-0 at home against Newcastle. Those two actions added to the number of saves Etheridge made mean he ended up with an impressive 13 points this week - beaten only by Sergio Aguero as the squad's ideal captain.

In front of Etheridge is a back three consisting of players who all picked up points for attacking actions with Ricardo Pereira the only member of the backline to have also achieved a clean sheet. The Portuguese full-back also grabbed an assist as Leicester defeated Wolves at home, an achievement also managed by Marcos Alonso and Steve Cook in addition to their goals! Significantly, both Alonso and Cook scored the winner for Chelsea and Bournemouth respectively. Alonso looks an especially good pick for those looking to add attacking options to their defence given that the Spaniard is still playing like a wing-back despite Chelsea reverting to a back four under Maurizio Sarri. The ease with which Arsenal created chances against the Blues is a worry for his clean sheet chances though!

Midfield

Henrikh Mkhitaryan was the major fantasy beneficiary of that weak Chelsea defence as he bagged himself a goal and an assist in Arsenal's 3-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge. The Armenian is joined in midfield by Theo Walcott, James Maddison and Sadio Mane who all got themselves on the scoresheet this week. After joining Leicester from Norwich for around £25m over the summer, James Maddison looks a particularly strong fantasy option outside of the top six clubs. The midfielder impressed last week at Old Trafford as well as in this round's game against Wolves and appears to be the playmaker Leicester will be building most of their play around this season.

Mane (8) was placed in this team ahead of other players to have scored eight points because of his overall points tally after scoring highly in Round One against West Ham. Players such as David Silva, Lucas Moura, James Milner, Harry Kane, Callum Wilson and Ben Chilwell are all equally deserving of a place in this team but I had to decide some how as it would be tricky to fit them all on the graphic!

Strikers

Unlike last week, there were plenty of strikers finding the net in Round Two! Troy Deeney (goal, assist and shots on target) and Gabriel Jesus (goal, dribbles completed and shots on target) both managed to edge themselves ahead of the other forwards in our points system but the stand out player this week is of course Sergio Aguero.

Pep Guardiola has already expressed his delight with the Argentine's conditions on two occasions this season and the start both Aguero and City have made to the campaign is a real worry for other teams but very promising for fantasy managers! Aguero was unfortunate not have scored more than three goals against Huddersfield on Sunday and is a must-consider for future rounds if you haven't selected him given the kind upcoming fixtures the champions face.

Who caught your eye this week as a potential star in our fantasy or 5-a-side fantasy games (they don't have to be TOTR players!)? Next week's round includes a big clash at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Tottenham on Monday night meaning Round 9 of our 5-a-side game will be very interesting as we all pick a team consisting of players from those two teams alone!
