Premier League Round 5 Predictions!

Though there were a few interesting moments in the international break such as Denmark putting out an amateur side against Slovakia and Spain giving Croatia a battering, it's always great to have the Premier League back and there are some interesting games to look forward to in Round 5. Make sure you remember to submit your own picks (you'll automatically be in with a chance of winning prizes if you do) and, if you're feeling kind, remind your pool mates to get back in the swing of making their Premier League Superbru picks too!

Here are the fixtures that are taking place this weekend along with my picks for each of them:

Tottenham vs. Liverpool

What a game this should be first up! Liverpool have of course started the season perfectly with 12 points out of 12 while Spurs really should be in the same position but slipped up badly at Vicarage Road as they lost 2-1 to Watford before the international break despite going ahead. That result means Spurs can't afford to lose this if they want to ensure they don't fall too far behind early on and I don't think they will since Liverpool aren't nearly as good away from home as they are at Anfield. There's usually goals between these two but Liverpool have improved defensively over recent months so I'm going one each. Prediction: Spurs 1-1 Liverpool

Bournemouth vs. Leicester

Not an easy game to call but I think it should be good to watch as both sides can play and are capable of scoring goals. Leicester will be boosted by the return of Jamie Vardy for this one who is important in these away games as he prevents the opposition's back line from pushing up too much but I've been impressed with Bournemouth and think they can win this. Though beaten at Chelsea in Round 4, the Cherries put in a good enough performance to avoid any harm to confidence and if they do win this they'll be really well placed ahead of some kind fixtures. Prediction: Bournemouth 2-1 Leicester

Chelsea vs. Cardiff

An ideal game for Chelsea as they look to make it 5 wins out of 5 in the Premier League this season - I can only see a home win and there'll naturally be a very large percentage of you behind the Blues at Superbru! Cardiff deserve credit for their performance against Arsenal that saw them pick up their first two goals of the season despite losing, but a trip to the Bridge requires another level of ability and they'll have very little of the ball in this game. The exact score isn't easy to pick (it never is) but if Arsenal can score three at Cardiff then Chelsea can beat them comfortably at home. Prediction: Chelsea 3-0 Cardiff

Huddersfield vs. Crystal Palace

Palace mucked up my picks in the last round by losing to Southampton with the surprise absence of Zaha clearly a big factor. Hodgson's team are tricky to pick now as I was so impressed with them against Fulham and Liverpool in the opening weeks but that's now two really disappointing results. Can they improve against Huddersfield? The break certainly came at a good time for them and the signs are good since they defeated the Yorkshire side home and away last season. Huddersfield will feel this is a great opportunity for a first win of the season so I don't feel confident picking the Eagles but they do have the better team. Prediction: Huddersfield 0-1 Crystal Palace

Manchester City vs. Fulham

Given City's strength at home and Fulham's tendency to concede goals this could be a cricket score but I expect the Whites to at least change their approach slightly when visiting the Etihad. I've got Fulham to score as they are good going forward and City seem to concede quite in quite a few of their home games but I can only see the hosts winning. Prediction: Manchester City 3-1 Fulham

Newcastle vs. Arsenal

This could be the first time in around a month that we actually see Newcastle dare to come out and play a bit though Benitez's side will still need to play with some caution against an Arsenal team that are strong when attacking. The Magpies need to have a go in front of their home fans and can certainly score against the Gunners but I expect Arsenal to have too much. I'm picking them to win with the assumption that Emery will start both Lacazette and Aubameyang again so I'll be a bit nervous if reverts to leaving Lacazette on the bench! Prediction: Newcastle 1-2 Arsenal

Watford vs. Manchester United

I'm looking forward to this one as Watford have been excellent so far and deservedly have a 100% record while Manchester United need to keep winning if they're to avoid the next media storm against Jose Mourinho and key players that will come with another defeat. Like many other Superbru players, I don't think I've picked any of the Watford wins yet so as soon as I do pick them to get a good result I'm sure they'll lose! The international break has come at a slightly annoying time for the Hornets but I do feel they can still grind out a point at Vicarage Road. Their front two will fancy their chances against the poor central defence United have. Prediction: Watford 1-1 Manchester United

Wolves vs. Burnley

Will Burnley improve now that they're out of Europe and have had the international break to recover from fatigue? You'd think so. Wolves have already proven they are tough to beat though and I think Sean Dyche would take a point to steady the ship a little if you offered it too him right now. The Clarets should set themselves up well as we saw throughout last season and I think they can get that point. Prediction: Wolves 1-1 Burnley

Everton vs. West Ham

You simply can't back West Ham based on their season so far. They've been absolutely dreadful and unless Pellegrini sorts things out quickly there could be trouble as we know how restless the supporters already are about the club's direction. Everton will have a strong season under Silva and despite them letting me down with that Huddersfield draw I'm backing them to win again this week. Prediction: Everton 3-1 West Ham

Southampton vs. Brighton

Not the most thrilling Monday night football there will be this season but this should still be an intriguing game between two sides that will each think they can win. That Southampton victory at Palace in Round 4 should do wonders for confidence and it's because of that win that I'm backing them to make it two on the bounce. Brighton are yet to prove themselves on the road in the Premier League and with home advantage under the lights I think the Saints may edge this one. Prediction: Saints 2-1 Brighton

Let me know what you think of these picks in the comments below and don't forget to sign up for the CHAMPIONS LEAGUE PREDICTOR which begins on Tuesday! You don't need me to tell you how good it will be to see European football return and like all tournaments, Superbru adds that little extra excitement. Best of luck with your own predictions!
