Premier League: Round 38 Predictions!

Here we go then, the final round of the 2018/19 Premier League! It's been the most incredible title race in recent memory so it almost seems fitting that everyone's attention will be exclusively on the games involving Liverpool and Manchester City since the relegation and top four places are confirmed (sorry Arsenal fans, an 8-goal swing isn't happening).

However, there's far more to play for at Superbru than there is in the rest of the PL games taking place so make sure you don't take your foot off the gas! I'm conscious there are often some crazy scorelines on the final day because of teams having such freedom, so though I'm far from confident on most of them, here are my Round 38 picks. It's pretty much a complete lottery to be honest..

Brighton vs. Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has won a lot of trophies in his career and this obviously isn't the first time City have been needing a win on the final day of the season to win the title either. They should win this game and win the Premier League trophy that they deserve. That's not me saying that Liverpool don't deserve it - with 97 points they certainly would - but if City follow up a 100-point season with a 98-point title winning season then that has to go down as one of the best achievements in PL history. Brighton's result last week shows that they're capable of causing an upset but City should find the three points since they'll have the ball for nearly all of this match. Prediction: Brighton 0-2 Manchester City

Burnley vs. Arsenal

It's all on the Europa League final now for Arsenal. Even if they still had a chance at getting in the top four I'm not sure they'd win this game with their awful away record. Burnley are the kind of club that will be determined to put a good performance in for their home support on the final day and they enjoy trying to turn the big clubs over. I can see a Clarets win here. Prediction: Burnley 2-1 Arsenal

Crystal Palace vs. Bournemouth

No idea on this one. Palace have hardly won at home this season and Bournemouth are very hit and miss. I see the Cherries as having the better XI though and the likes of Fraser, King and Wilson will be keen to give their attacking numbers for the season a final boost at Selhurst Park. Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-3 Bournemouth

Fulham vs. Newcastle

Scott Parker has been really impressive since taking over at Fulham and deserves the job he now has on a permanent basis in the Championship next season. Newcastle won't be easy to beat though and both Perez and Rondon provide a real threat. I think this could be quite a good game with both teams scoring a couple. Prediction: Fulham 2-2 Newcastle

Leicester vs. Chelsea

It's incredible Chelsea have found themselves in third but the form of teams around them means they've ultimately been rewarded for the strong start Sarri had despite it feeling like a long time ago now! Nonetheless, if simply looking at the season achievements on paper, then a top four spot and a (potential) Europa League title is something the Club would have been happy with at the start of the season. I'm not sure they'll win this match though. Brendan Rodgers would love a final day win to end this season with a buzz ahead of his first full campaign. Chelsea have been poor on the road lately, will be fatigued after a penalty shootout win over Frankfurt and have already lost to the Foxes at home. Prediction: Leicester 2-1 Chelsea

Liverpool vs. Wolves

I can only see Liverpool winning this game. A match at Anfield after knocking Barcelona out of the Champions League with a chance at the Club's first ever Premier League title? The players couldn't be more motivated for this game. Wolves are arguably less dangerous now that they have 7th spot tied up as well. Looking down the Superbru form guides for both Liverpool and City is really quite a sight - especially Liverpool since they've only lost once! There should be big celebrations at full-time regardless of the result at the Amex. Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Wolves

Manchester United vs. Cardiff

Once again I find myself picking United to win because they have an easy fixture but I'm not overly confident after that game at Huddersfield. Cardiff are now also playing for pride like the Terriers and I'm not sure how they'll get on but if they were struggling while still in with a chance of survival then I think they're unlikely to cause United too many problems. I can see Solskjaer fielding some younger players in this game as he looks to give the fans any positivity he can find before a crucial summer. Prediction: Man United 2-0 Cardiff

Southampton vs. Huddersfield

As I've just mentioned, Huddersfield got a fairly good result last week and this one is hard to read given Southampton have stopped winning since confirming survival. This is a kind end of season fixture for the Saints though and I think they have the best chance of all teams besides perhaps Liverpool of scoring a few goals in front of their own fans this weekend. Shane Long has been in form and if they score early they could end up with a few. Prediction: Southampton 4-1 Huddersfield

Tottenham vs. Everton

This must seem of very small significance to Tottenham after such an incredible win in midweek. They and their fans will only be thinking about the UCL final now and they don't have Son or Kane in this match. But then you see that Everton will be without Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison and think they may struggle too. The players that Spurs do have fit must be so fatigued and they know there's no real danger of finishing outside the top four so I can see Everton getting something. Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Everton

Watford vs. West Ham

Home advantage should see Watford through this game and I think Gracia will be keen for them to make sure they have some momentum ahead of the FA Cup final. West Ham have little to play for aside from getting ahead of Watford and in the top half. I'm not sure this will be a classic but it's the games you say that about that end up really high scoring! Prediction: Watford 2-0 West Ham

Thank you for reading these pieces throughout the season and getting involved in the comments. They're interesting to read even when proving me wrong! We will of course have plenty more content coming throughout the summer and next season. Next week I'll also be posting the team of the season according to our fantasy games so it will be interesting to see how our own opinions on the TOTS differ from that. Best of luck to you all in Round 38 - especially those of you who are still in with a chance of winning your pools!

Good luck everyone. The final week of the season and I'll be glad when the stress is over. Been top of the league most of the season is not as easy as you might think. As for andyroo and Liverpool alias Charlie the battle for the wooden spoon is almost over relegation looms. See you all next season
