Premier League Round 25 Predictions!

As we all know, Round 24 of the Premier League was an absolute nightmare for Superbru players but it did make for great entertainment! I fared even worse than most with just 3/10 because of failing to pick Spurs. That's now twice in as many rounds that I've gone 1-1 for them and they've managed a late comeback to win 2-1. I'll be picking them to win this week so you're best off picking 1-1 there.

In case you don't already know, we now have a slightly larger than usual Round 25 as Everton will play Manchester City on Wednesday due to that fixture being re-arranged because of City's involvement in the Carabao Cup final. There are two things to keep in mind with a double gameweek at Superbru - one is that it's a good idea to pick players from the clubs who are playing twice in our fantasy game (certainly City in this case!) and the other is to remember that the Exact Score Challenge prizes in our predictor game are still only awarded based on the opening 10 fixtures of the round.

On to my picks then. Most of you seemed to agree with my R24 picks (other than Spurs) meaning you'll also be hoping for an improvement this time around! As those midweek games proved, anything is possible..

Tottenham vs. Newcastle

For the first time in ages, there's a real buzz around Newcastle United and understandably so given their result against City and the fact they've finally broken their transfer record. I'm really interested to see how Almiron gets on in the Premier League but he's not available for this one and I'm not sure Newcastle can pull off a second big win this week. Tottenham certainly aren't convincing but their last two wins have been crucial from awkward positions which will build confidence and they should be able to find another victory here. Prediction: Tottenham 2-0 Newcastle

Brighton vs. Watford

This one looks very even on paper and I expect it to be quite cagey with most of the action taking place in the middle third of the pitch. Chris Hughton will be fuming about his side conceding 4 at Craven Cottage in midweek but they're a different team at home and I expect an organised performance. Watford have been strong under Gracia this season though and they too will play sensibly so I can't split these two. Prediction: Brighton 1-1 Watford

Burnley vs. Southampton

Dyche seems to have things back on track at Burnley and his team are now unbeaten in five so I make them favourites for this game despite Southampton's improvement under Hasenhuttl. That 2-2 draw at Old Trafford is very impressive regardless of the fact it perhaps should have been three points and I think they can continue building momentum. Prediction: Burnley 1-0 Southampton

Chelsea vs. Huddersfield

It goes without saying that Chelsea's midweek result at Bournemouth is hugely alarming for the Blues and whilst the level of punishment they received in that game in terms of the losing margin was surprising, the first half that they dominated without scoring against a low block was a problem they've had too many times this season and Huddersfield will therefore likely also prove difficult. With that in mind, there may be a few who opt for a sneaky 0-0 pick here but I personally think this must be a game that can get Chelsea (and they'll hope Higuain) going again in the Premier League. If you can't beat Huddersfield at home, you certainly don't deserve a top four spot. Prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Huddersfield

Crystal Palace vs. Fulham

A great and very crucial win for Fulham in midweek but I see Crystal Palace winning this game given their home advantage. Wilfried Zaha is obviously a big miss for the Eagles but they should have enough to score against this Fulham defence regardless and I feel Michy Batshuayi could thrive in this Palace team. Fulham have quite a kind run-in so they just need to keep themselves in the mix in terms of survival and they'll have a chance. A win here would be huge and bring them within three points of Palace but I can't see the hosts allowing that to happen. Prediction: Crystal Palace 3-1 Fulham

Everton vs. Wolves

I think Wolves can pick up a big away win here. Everton still aren't at it and look awful defensively at times. Wolves have got goals in them and confidence so I think it's going to be tricky for Everton to please what's becoming a very unhappy crowd at Goodison Park. Digne is missing for the hosts through suspension and it's the quality wing backs that Wolves will bring that could prove the difference. Prediction: Everton 1-2 Wolves

Cardiff vs. Bournemouth

Bournemouth have four very tricky fixtures after this one so they could really do with three points and I feel they can get them. They have to improve defensively - especially on the road - but Cardiff certainly don't have the most deadly attack in the Premier League and the Cherries should be able to win if they don't concede more than once. No Callum Wilson is an issue for the visitors but King could hardly be in better form and Solanke is now ready for action. Prediction: Cardiff 1-2 Bournemouth

Leicester vs. Manchester United

I'm quite looking forward to this one. Leicester have been excellent against the 'big teams' all season and after getting a draw at Anfield on Wednesday this is another huge test against the form team in the league. Yes, United had a poor result in midweek, but they're still unbeaten under Solskjaer and that form along with the tendency United still have to defend badly at times is what makes this exciting. I'm going for another away win because United are the better team and Leicester have actually been better on the road this year. I feel the Foxes will score but United will score more and bounce back from Wednesday. Prediction: Leicester 1-3 Manchester United

Manchester City vs. Arsenal

City are having such a strange season. They're slipping up more than they did last year which was always likely but they look so good in between those mistakes. I'm not sure there is a good time for Arsenal to play Manchester City as they're just poor defensively in these games but this seems an especially bad time to me because Guardiola will be demanding a response. We saw what happened when Arsenal went to Anfield and this could be as bad. City are relentless against teams they can cut through with ease and they won't stop trying to score even if they already have a couple of goals. I fear for Arsenal in this match. Prediction: Manchester City 4-1 Arsenal

West Ham vs. Liverpool

Things have been going pear-shaped for West Ham in recent weeks and I don't see Liverpool having many problems here. The Hammers are quite good at home against the big London teams as they seem to get themselves up for the derbies but I'm not sure they'll trouble the Reds. There are some big tests still to come for Liverpool this season and they'll be made to work very hard for what could well be their first title in the Premier League era but I'm not sure this is one of them. Prediction: West Ham 0-3 Liverpool

Everton vs. Manchester City

I'll be coming back to this pick nearer the time following the rest of this round's action but given that I think Wolves can win at Goodison, it goes without saying that I expect City to too. Prediction: Manchester City win
