Premier League Fantasy Football Tips: Round Five

Here's some quick advice ahead of this weekend for those of you playing our Premier League fantasy games. The international break has passed meaning there's often a lot of injury news to catch up on and unfortunately for Norwich fans, it seems as if every player that was injured over the break plays for the Canaries! Daniel Farke now has an injury list of over 11 players and his team face Manchester City this weekend.

Other notable team news is that N'Golo Kante is still not ready for Chelsea which means they may well still be fragile defensively despite Antonio Rudiger being fit, while Manchester United will be without key players in Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial when they host Leicester tomorrow.

Using the average taken from the thousands of picks to have been made in our main game - the Premier League Predictor - we're able to provide you with a 'predicted goals' tally for each team in every round of the competition and we believe this can come in handy when choosing between certain players for your fantasy points.

Round Two: Predicted Goals

Here are two graphs displaying the predicted goals (PG) data for this weekend. This data was taken before the Norwich press conference today and so you can imagine that Manchester City's PG tally is perhaps now even higher ahead of their game at Carrow Road. As is the norm, Liverpool are the other side in the top two of the PG chart though it's important to emphasise that their respective fixtures mean that these numbers are even higher than usual. Daily 5-a-side fantasy players will need to make a tough call between Liverpool and Manchester City forwards tomorrow..

Other interesting points to note include the fact that we're set for a 1.11 draw at the Amex tomorrow when Brighton take on Burnley! Tottenham are expected to ease past a Crystal Palace that have looked good on the road in 2019, Sheffield Utd are the team that is most likely to keep a clean sheet outside of the top six clubs and Everton's Round 4 success in front of goal is expected to continue.

Round Two: Players to Consider

With the above data and notes in mind, here are my tips for this weekend's action. Honestly, the Round 5 fixture list includes so many tight-looking games that it's difficult to confidently back any players that don't for play for Liverpool or Manchester City! Even ahead of the news regarding Norwich injuries, I tipped Manchester City to score 5 in my predictions article this week so they do look like a huge points opportunity. So much so that I've made my number 1 pick a fairly obvious City player, but rotation is the concern..

Kevin de Bruyne
I feel as though Pep Guardiola is more likely to rest players from the start in Wednesday's Champions League game at Shakhtar rather than in this weekend's match against Norwich, especially since he may feel he can try and win this game early before taking players off. Kevin de Bruyne has looked incredible this season and was on fire earlier this week for Belgium where he managed a hat-trick of assists and a goal against Scotland. I'm hoping KDB will start and play at least an hour with the likes of Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling more at risk of rotation but you never know with Pep Guardiola and his quality squad.

Moise Kean
My other two picks this week are back to the usual 'outside of the box' options for you to consider and I feel Moise Kean is worth keeping faith with if you have already picked him and worth gambling on this weekend if you're in need. Everton are creating plenty of chances thanks to the likes of Iwobi, Sigurdsson and Richarlison and it's probably only a matter of time before Kean starts scoring goals. He's talented, managed a first assist in Round 4 and should keep starting for his new club.

Enda Stevens
Perhaps not the best option for your full fantasy team over a few weeks but if you're not convinced by Liverpool and Manchester City's chances of a clean sheet then you could consider Enda Stevens for Saturday's daily fantasy round. Stevens has been getting forward well from his left-back position at Sheffield United and the Blades will feel they stand a good chance of a clean sheet and a win at home to Southampton this weekend. As previously noted, Sheffield Utd are the fifth most likely team to keep a clean sheet in this round according to our PG data.

Best of luck to you all with your fantasy teams this weekend.
