Premier League Fantasy Football Tips: Round 12

Round 12 of the Premier League begins this evening with a crucial game at the bottom between Norwich and Watford. We then have a six-game Saturday and a three-game Sunday that includes Liverpool vs. Manchester City as the final fixture.

With the Premier League's two powerhouses playing one another, is this the week to gamble on some fantasy players from smaller sides? Or will there be goals at Anfield? Here's a look at some data and suggested differential options.

Using the average taken from the thousands of picks to have been made in our main game - the Premier League Predictor - we're able to provide you with a 'predicted goals' tally for each team in every round of the competition and we believe this can come in handy when choosing between certain players for your fantasy points. Here's how the data is looking ahead of this weekend.

Round Twelve: Predicted Goals (PG)

As you see can see from the charts below, Manchester City and Liverpool are not top for a change! The effect of them playing one another is clear to see with the Superbru community making three teams more likely to score goals than Liverpool and thirteen teams more likely to keep a clean sheet.

Despite their recent woes, Manchester United have the lowest PG conceded tally meaning David de Gea, Aaron Wan-Bissaka or Harry Maguire could represent good options against Brighton this weekend, while Chelsea and Leicester appear likely to score the most goals. You can expect the popularity of both Tammy Abraham and Jamie Vardy to increase further for Saturday.

Round Twelve: Players to Consider

With the above data and notes in mind, here are my tips for this weekend's action. Though I wouldn't recommend removing the likes of Salah, Mane or KDB from your 11-a-side team as they score goals in big games as well as more routine fixtures, this does look like a week where it might be worth gambling in Sunday's 5-a-side round. City and Liverpool defenders might be worth replacing for this week if you have better options on your bench based on the data, though don't forget it was 0-0 at Anfield in this fixture last season!

Heung-min Son
After having his Round 11 red card against Everton rescinded, Son is available for this weekend and looked in fantastic form in the Champions League on Wednesday despite the upsetting scenes we saw at Goodison Park. Far from an unpopular player in our fantasy games, Son is still considerably less commonly picked than Liverpool and City midfielders but he could well be better value this weekend in my opinion. There are signs that Spurs may be coming back into form and the Korean has been a huge part of that. He should have scored at Anfield, has picked up lots of fantasy points in the Champions League and should threaten Sheffield United despite the Blades' fantastic defensive record so far this season.

Raul Jimenez
A must-have in your team last season, Jimenez hasn't quite reached his 2018/19 form just yet but again, there are signs that it's coming back. Fatigue is a slight concern as he played last night in the Europa League but a crucial last minute winner in that game will do wonders for confidence and he's still highly likely to start what is a meaningful game for Wolves against rivals Villa.

Erik Pieters
Outside of Manchester defenders who I have already discussed above, I think Burnley's backline is worth looking at for this week and the next few as they come into a kind patch of fixtures. You never quite know what you'll get with West Ham, who Pieters is up against this weekend, but they are in a bad place at the moment and most consider Burnley favourites. Of the Clarets' defenders, Pieters is the most likely to also chip in with an assist thanks to the crosses he sometimes provides Wood or Barnes with.

Best of luck to you all with your fantasy teams this weekend.
