F1 Russia GP Preview

What happened at the Bahrain GP

Vettel’s triumph in the night at Bahrain sees him regain the lead in the driver’s standings. A costly 5 second penalty meant Hamilton had to settle for second place with Bottas taking the final podium position after claiming his first career pole position.

Massa once more finished ‘best of the rest’ in 6th place ahead of the ever-reliable Perez who has finished in the points in 13 consecutive races dating back to the 2016 German GP. Another standout qualifying performance from Hulkenberg bore fruit with his and Renault’s first points of the season to come home 9th. It was yet another disappointing outing for McLaren as neither driver finished the race, meaning 13th is their best placed finish so far this season.

F1 Fantasy

Vettel outscored Hamilton in band 1 making him a strong differential pick with an ownership of just 30% – the question is will more of you go with the Ferrari driver this time around? A selection increase of 20% left those Verstappen owners disappointed with just a single figure points return while those who kept Raikkonen were rewarded with the high scorer from band 2. Perez and Massa lead the way in band 3 with Ocon again scoring well for just the 1% who picked him. Will Alonso owners remain loyal or is it time now to consider alternatives? Let’s head over to the Russian GP

We now turn our attention to Sochi for the Russian Grand Prix. Will the Vettel-Hamilton monopoly resume or can another driver break the status quo to claim victory? Last season Rosberg continued his winning streak with victory ahead of team-mate Hamilton with Raikkonen finishing third.

Mercedes have a 100% record at the Russian GP, will this run continue on Sunday or can Ferrari or Red Bull put an end to it?
