F1 Preview: Spanish Grand Prix

Last time out: Azerbaijan GP result

A flawless drive from Bottas saw him back to the top of the driver standings and level on race wins with Hamilton this season at 2 a piece. It was another dominant weekend for Mercedes as they locked out the front row and then sealed a 4th consecutive 1-2 finish in 2019 -ominous signs for the chasing pack.

It was once again disappointment for Ferrari as they had to settle for third with Vettel, whilst the early weekend promise of Leclerc faded away after his crash in qualifying. It was a better weekend for Racing Point and McLaren as all of their drivers finished inside the top 10, an encouraging result for both.

Spanish GP

Last season it was a Mercedes 1-2 at the Circuit de Catalunya, with Hamilton the victor. Verstappen completed the podium places in his Red Bull. This year it has a feel of a must win for Ferrari on the track where they showed such pace in winter testing. Can this finally be the time when they turn their season around and start to close the already big gap to Mercedes?

My podium prediction - 1. Leclerc, 2. Hamilton, 3. Vettel
