Currie Cup: Round 13 Predictions

Last week’s upset cost me more points as the Cheetahs beat the Sharks in Bloemfontein, picked by just 21% on Superbru.
We’re running out of rounds to make up ground, but there are 4 games coming up in Round 13, with the rearranged Bulls v Lions fixture scheduled for Wednesday.
Here are my Currie Cup picks for this weekend.
Pumas v Lions
We start off with an easy one with the resurgent Lions, fresh from a big win over the Sharks and then a Christmas break, up against the struggling Pumas in Nelspruit. I can’t see anything but a Lions win here.
Lions by 16Sharks v Griquas
This is another straightforward pick, with the Sharks hot favourites to beat the lowly Griquas. The Sharks may have lost two in a row away from home, but their visitors to Kings Park this weekend are yet to win a single match.
Sharks by 9Cheetahs v Western Province
This is where it starts to get tricky. The Cheetahs have looked strong in the last couple of rounds, particularly in their demolition of the Sharks last weekend, but yet Province are the slight favourites with the bookies. I’m leaning towards a home win though.
Cheetahs by 2Bulls v Lions
This is another tough pick, particularly for the Lions who must play on Saturday and then Wednesday. The Bulls meanwhile will be fresh having not played at all since mid-December, and with home advantage, I think the Bulls will continue their winning run over the Lions.
