Cricket World Cup: Round Seven Predictions!
Round Six of our Cricket World Cup predictor consisted of just three games and has been good to me so far with England and New Zealand winning as I predicted. Australia are in the middle of posting a large total against Bangladesh so that's also looking good for my picks but perhaps not for the tournament as the top four continue to pull away from the rest!
In Round Seven we have 5 games coming up, the first two of which look very one-sided. Things could well get tricky between now and the semi-finals though as games such as Pakistan v South Africa this Sunday are made a little more tricky to gauge by the fact both teams are essentially out of the tournament. Here are my picks, feel free to let me know how yours compare in the comments!
Best of luck to all in Round 7!

England vs. Sri Lanka
As with England's game against Afghanistan, this is pretty much a decision between Easy or Thrashing for the hosts really as they look at least 100 runs better than Sri Lanka. Much of that decision will come down to the weather and the toss on the day but I simply can't see SL winning due to their weak batting lineup after the openers and their poor fielding. Prediction: England (thrashing)India vs. Afghanistan
I could pretty much copy and paste the above and apply it to this match! India are looking very, very good so far in this tournament and won't be easy to beat. To stand any chance of winning against India you're going to need to get an opener and Kohli out early on. Even if Afghanistan somehow manage to be the team to do that, I don't think they have the batting to match the total India would still get themselves to. Prediction: India (thrashing)West Indies vs. New Zealand
After that great start against Pakistan, the West Indies have looked worryingly basic ever since due to the fact that they only actually seem to have one plan for the entire tournament. Their constant short-pitched bowling hasn't worked since that opener and won't work against this New Zealand side either so they're going to need to change something. Their batting lineup remains talented and there's always the chance they can win a match simply through six-hitting by their power players but that doesn't happen consistently enough for me to pick them for the moment. Kane Williamson showed all of his class in that victory against South Africa and the Windies bowlers seem well short of the discipline and accuracy required to beat players of his standard. Prediction: New Zealand (comfortable)Pakistan vs. South Africa
This looks like a 50/50 call to me. Pakistan look the better side with the bat but South Africa's fielding and bowling is probably better thanks to Tahir, Rabada and the recent form of Chris Morris. If the Proteas can win the toss and bowl in favourable conditions then I may well pick them but if the Lord's wicket is a good one then I'll be leaning towards Pakistan. Babar Azam is a serious batsman who South Africa will need to get out but Pakistan feel a little less reliant on him for a big total than the Proteas are on de Kock. Prediction: Pakistan (narrow)Bangladesh vs. Afghanistan
Though Afghanistan were better with the bat than expected against England, they still don't look strong enough for me to pick them in any of their remaining games and Bangladesh have been impressive. Regardless of how close Bangladesh get to Australia's 382 in today's game, they have enough momentum in this competition to easily get the better of Afghanistan and maintain their very small hopes of a late surge into the semi-final places. Prediction: Bangladesh (easy)Best of luck to all in Round 7!

Hey Janine, you're right, this result is a comfortable one at Superbru. We're currently dealing with a bug that was incorrectly displaying the win as an easy one but points should now be allocated correctly. Apologies! 23 Jun 17:55
