Today we have been receiving reports from users in South Africa who are having difficulty connecting to SuperBru. If you have been affected, or you know a friend who is having trouble, please read on and spread the word.

Symptoms

- Some users can't connect to any websites
- Others can connect to some websites, but not to SuperBru
- You might see an error message like this:

The webpage at http://www.superbru.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

SuperBru itself is fine; South Africa's internet connections are not

Our servers and applications are running smoothly, with no problems currently reported. The problem is that some people cannot connect to us because of local issues at their Internet Service Providers, or on their computers. Unfortunately this is totally outside of our control.

The error ERR_NAME_RESOLUTION_FAILED suggests that some networks aren't able to look up our servers. If you type 'www.superbru.com' into your browser, that address gets looked up in a list of all web addresses to find what servers to direct you to. It's like a big telephone book: you look for your friend's name, find their number, then call then number. If the telephone book isn't working, you can't make the call.

What to do

1. Try a different connection

The best thing is to try a different internet connection, which might route through a service provider that is working correctly. For example, if you're having trouble on your desktop computer which connects through your office network, try using SuperBru on your phone, connected to your phone provider's 3G network. If your phone is set up to connect to wifi in your office or home, disable wifi on the phone first so you fall back to 3G. This will ensure you don't simply connect to the same problematic network.

2. Get your picks in via our 'Hectic' overflow site

You might get able to access http://hectic.superbru.com. This is a basic overflow site which will at least enable you to get your picks in (prediction games only - not Fantasy Lite unfortunately). Your picks will be transferred to the main site overnight.

3. Contact us

We're available on support@superbru.com, but please do try to get your picks in through the other means above first as it'll mean they're captured quicker.
