About Superbru Clubs

What is a club?

New to SuperBru in 2013, clubs are communities of SuperBru players who take part in tournaments together.

Clubs run pools inside tournaments, and all the performance data from each pool is fed back into the club, producing a permanent record of club members' performances and a medal table to show who has done the best in the club over the years.

Additionally, the club has a life of its own outside of each pool, with banter, newsletters and an entire, permanent section on SuperBru's website to hold all the club features together.

Why did SuperBru create clubs?

Our pools are great while tournaments are running, but once we archive a completed tournament, everything about a pool disappears. Players have often written in asking for transcripts of pool performances from old tournaments, so we thought it would be great if there was somewhere containing that permanent record. Also, if you regularly set up, or take part in, the same pool, we want to make it easier for you to do so.

Do clubs replace pools?

No. You'll still take part in pools like you always have. Clubs are just a way for a pool captain to connect together several pools he or she runs.

Does a club have a captain?

Yes, but in club terminology, the person who sets up the club is called the President. The President may additionally appoint two Vice-Presidents, who can help in most of the administration functions of the club.

Does having a club make running pools easier?

Yes, if you are a regular SuperBru pool captain, you will find that a club simplifies the process of running pools. When you create a pool, some settings (like your club name and thumbnail image) will automatically be carried across from the club to the pool. You'll also be able to send out invitations to some or all of your club members. Think of the club as the place where you build and retain your audience, and your pools as the place where those people play the game.

Does someone have to be a member of my club to take part in my pools?

No. Anyone can still take part in your pools just as before. Club membership is separate from pool participation. In club terminology, a player who is in one your pools but is not a club member is called a prospective member or guest.

How many clubs can I join?

There is no limit to how many clubs you can join.

How many clubs can I set up?

You may be the President or Vice-President of a maximum of 5 clubs.

Can I import my historic pool data?

Yes. If you have run a pool on SuperBru in the past, you'll be able to connect it to your new club. The final standings from that pool will be imported into the club's medal tables.

Does a club have to take part in all SuperBru tournaments?

No. The club President will decide which tournaments the club will enter.

If I join a club, do I have to play every tournament it enters?

No. You may choose which pools and tournaments to play. However, you might find the club's medal table an incentive to try out some new tournaments!

How many pools can a club run?

A club can run one or more pools in whichever SuperBru tournaments it likes. This is useful for organisations - say you are a corporate with several divisions who traditionally each have their own pool: now you can all be a member of the same club, but still take part in different pools.
