How it works

In the Currie Cup, a fairly long round robin stage sees every team meet every other team twice: once at home, and once away. 4 log points are earned for a win and 2 for a draw. If a team scores 4 tries, it is awarded a bonus point (BW in our table). And if a team loses by 7 points or less it earns a bonus point (BL).

At the end of the round robin stage, the two teams placed top on the log host the teams in 3rd and 4th places in semi-finals. The 1st team plays the 4th team, and the 2nd team plays the 3rd. The winners of the semi-finals go on to contest the final at the home ground of whichever of them was highest on the log at the end of Round 14. Any log points ties are broken by looking at season score difference.
