Scoring system

The fundamental goal of SuperBru is to score as many points as possible, by making as many accurate predictions as possible. Here's what you'll predict, and how points are allocated for those predictions:
What you must predict
For every game in the series, you must pick:
1) The game outcome (team 1 win, draw or team 2 win)
2) The score
Points allocation
SuperBru features several different kinds of points, and understanding them may help inform your picking strategy. For example, you might want to go for extreme margins in the hopes of out-fringing your pool mates to a Bonus Point, but at the risk of not getting Margin Points.
Point name Value Description
Win Point
(WP)
1.0
Scored by all players correctly predicting the game outcome (home team win, draw or away team win)
Margin Point
(MP)
0.5 Scored by all players earning a WP who also correctly predict the goal difference. E.g. you predict Team A to win 2 - 1, but they win 4 - 3. The goal difference is 1 in both cases, and you earn a Margin Point.
Bonus Point
(BP)
1.0 Scored by all players who have earned a WP also predicting the actual score exactly right. Unlike in our rugby and cricket games, the Bonus Point in soccer also appears on the Global Leaderboard since it is not a pool-only relative point.
Grand Slam Point (GSP) 2 Awarded to all players correctly predicting every winner in a round. Not allocated if you have used a default pick during the round.

Default picks

If no pick is recorded for you, you will qualify for a default pick. A default pick is a pick for the home team. If the home team wins, you will earn a Win Point (but no Margin or Bonus Points, plus you will be disqualified from Grand Slam Point for the round). If the home team loses, you will not score any points, and you will have used up a default. You are eligible for 8 default picks. Anyone joining the tournament late will be allocated late joiner default points up to a limit of 16 (i.e. home teams for the first round). Regular defaults will subsequently still apply over and above the late joiner defaults. Default picks will not be given out in the semi-finals or the final.
