Tie-breaking for prizes
We may have a situation where two or more players qualify for prizes based on points totals. Here's how we'll break ties in this eventuality.
The starting point will be the players with the highest Win Point + Margin Point + Grand Slam Point total (
no Bonus Point). In the event of ties:
- The player with the higher Win Point total will qualify
- If there are still ties, the player with the higher Margin Point total will qualify
- If there are still ties, the player with the lower Total Distance from Margin* (TDM) will qualify
- If there are still ties, a coin flip will decide the winner
*
Total Distance from Margin: this is the sum of the absolute values of the differences between your picks and the actual picks. Example:
| Real result |
Your pick |
TDM |
| Auckland by 6 |
Auckland by 17 |
11 |
| Canterbury by 12 |
Otago by 5 |
